Africa’s Education Conferences Empowering Teachers

In 2025, Africa is set to host a series of pivotal education conferences aimed at empowering teachers and transforming the educational landscape across the continent. eLearning Africa 2025

Scheduled for May 7–9, 2025, at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the 18th International Conference & Exhibition on Digital Education, Training & Skills Development—commonly known as eLearning Africa—will focus on “Re-imagining Education and Human Capital Development for Africa’s Future Prosperity.” The conference aims to explore how Africa can harness the Fourth Industrial Revolution by integrating artificial intelligence (AI), digital literacy, green skills, and climate change education into curricula to create a resilient and future-ready workforce. Association of African Universities (AAU) 16th Quadrennial General Conference

From July 21–25, 2025, the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic in Rabat, Morocco, will host the AAU’s 16th Quadrennial General Conference under the theme “Shaping the Future of Higher Education for Innovation and Sustainable Development in Africa.” This conference aims to address critical challenges in African higher education, promote innovative approaches, and foster collaboration among institutions across the continent. Distance Education and Teachers’ Training in Africa (DETA) Conference 2025

The DETA Conference, an Africa-specific biennial event initiated by the University of Pretoria in 2005, will take place from July 22–25, 2025, at the Mauritius Institute of Education in Reduit, Mauritius. Global Network of Deans of Education (GNDE) Symposium 2025

On August 26, 2025, the Faculty of Education at the University of Pretoria will host the GNDE Symposium virtually. Themed “Future-Proofing Teachers: Global Perspectives on Integrating AI and Digital Tools in Teacher Preparation,” the symposium will convene deans of education from around the world to discuss the integration of AI and digital technologies in teacher preparation. Pan African Universities Debating Championship (PAUDC) 2025
